Vacation Day 7

Day 7 didn't quite go as planned. The plan was to get up early, catch the ferry to Seattle and spend the day there touring around before leaving for Everett, which was about 30 min away, for the Wiggles concert that night. We didn't realize, however, that the ferries get booked up really fast and therefore we didn't make it for any of the ferries leaving that day. We were bound and determined to get to the Wiggles that night though and so we took a ferry to Vancouver and drove from there instead. It added hours to our trip, and we were unable to visit Seattle that day, but we made it to Everett with a couple of hours to spare and that was what mattered!! We found a Baja Fresh (it was our favorite place to eat when we lived in Cali) and a jamba juice, and then went swimming before leaving for the concert. I already put pics of the concert up on an earlier post - it was a lot of fun!!

Taking another ferry to Vancouver

Crossing the border from BC to Washington - we ended up getting stopped and having to go inside.... although they never mentioned why. Maybe it was just random?

Vacation Day 6

Day 6 we drove to Victoria and spent the day and night. We stayed at the Empress Hotel, which I have always wanted to do (although it wasn't quite up to the standards I thought it would be). We walked around Victoria for a few hours and then Josh went whale watching while Maddy and I ordered room service and watched a movie in the big bed.

Vacations Days 4 and 5

On the 4th day of our vacation we traveled from Nanaimo to Port McNeill, which is pretty much at the very top of Vancouver Island. The cabin we stayed at was better than we ever thought it could be and we had a fantastic couple of days. The first night we spent just walking by the ocean and enjoying the quiet. We drove into town and bought some groceries and BBQ'd steaks and corn. After Maddy went to bed Josh and I sat on the deck and watched the sunset - it was great.

The next day was Josh's Kayaking trip. He left at 9 am and got back around 5. He had a really good time and was able to see a pod of killer whales (orcas) almost as soon as they had left! He said it was well worth the drive.

I wouldn't hate doing the dishes so much if I had this view every day!
Josh's kayaking trip. He didn't get any pics of the killer whales - was too excited I guess!!
