Vacation Day 9

Our last day of vacation was really LOOOONG. The plan was to head through Kelowna from Penticton, making it about a 7 hour drive back to Calgary. Unfortunately that day there were terrible fires in Kelowna and the main highway was shut down. We ended up having to drive back through Osoyoos and going through Cranbrook, which added about 3 hours to the drive!! We made the best of it though, stopping quite a lot for Madelyn (we found a great waterpark in Cranbrook). In total the drive took us nearly 13 hours, but we made it and Maddy did great!!! Altogether we drove 3700 KM (that is about 2600 miles for you Americans) and it was so great and so much fun.

Drive from Penticton - the roads were incredibly high and scary but the drive was beautiful!

you know you are back in Canada when..

I didn't realize that the Kokanee beer plant was in Creston
We stopped at a great waterpark in Cranbrook for a little break

Back in Alberta!
Frank's slide... wish I could have gotten better pictures. I couldn't capture how huge the rocks were on the sides of the highway that destroyed an entire city!

She looks like she is really into it... haha

Beautiful Alberta night

Vacation Day 8

The day after the Wiggles concert we drove to Seattle and visited the Space Needle. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to see anyting else, but just from driving through the city I absolutely loved it and we plan on going back very soon. The drive through Washington was the most beautiful I have seen. It was so green! The drive from Seattle to Penticton was quite long but really nice and so it wasn't so bad.

Our hotel in Penticton was a Lakeside Resort and Casino. That was my treat on the vacation! We walked around the boardwalk of Penticton in the evening and then after Maddy went to bed I was off to the casino and Josh went to sleep. I won $100 that night too! Unfortunately the night was a little rough. One thing we didn't realize was that the hotel had a club in it that was open to the public, so the hotel basically turned into party central until 2 in the morning. It was like Ezzie's... it was really really loud. Around 1 am there was some drunk kid climbing on our balcony and I had to call security!! Needless to say it wasn't what I had expected from a 4 star resort and I complained to management the next day - which rewarded us almost $100 off our room! Overall though we really liked Penticton and will definitely go back.
