Minivans are sweet!

We are officially the owners of a minivan now! We bought ourselves a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan and we just love it! It is fully loaded and has a cd/dvd/mp3 player. She is too young to enjoy it now, but in a little while Madelyn will LOVE having the dvd player! We went with a burnt orange color because every single person has a silver and the black is ALWAYS dirty looking. The cd player is a touch screen and you can download songs and pictures onto it. Super cool. The van also has a backup camera, so whenever you back up it comes up on the screen and you can see everything behind you!

We also bought a plasma tv for downstairs today with the money we got from our Sharks tickets. It will be great to be able to watch Dr. Phil or the news while I am making supper, etc.

We are trying to make the best of this wretched weather. Madelyn and I went to Canadian Tire and bought ourselves a sled. It has been bitterly cold though and we only go to the mail box and back, about 5 minutes!

Our beautiful baby is 10 months old!!!

Madelyn's Room

Madelyn's little room is finally finished. It isn't as big and bright as her California room, but I think it is just as pretty, and a lot cozier!

Snow Days is right!!

So because of the stormy weather this weekend, Stan and Linda were unable to make it to Calgary safely to come and watch Madelyn, which meant Josh and I didn't get to go to his company party. It was too bad, but we would much rather our family be safe!

It has snowed and snowed and snowed here this past week! I think we have gotten 15 -20 cm and there is lots of ice on the roads. On the VERY birght side of all this snow, Josh and I are getting new vehicles!! We find out tomorrow morning if the financing comes through (you know, with the whole 4 year absence from Canada and all...) We are getting a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan for me, either in a silver or a burnt orange (I keep going back and forth) and then Josh is going to get himself something nice as well, he just hasn't decided on what yet.

The next couple of weeks will be a little busy. Nathan and Hailey are coming to visit on their way through Calgary to go to Mexico, then Josie may come for a visit. Then sometime next week Josh has to fly to Cincinatti for a couple of days. Yikes. Then it is Christmas. Time just flies when you are so busy!! I managed to get my Christmas cards out a couple of days ago, but sorry, there was no time for a Christmas letter this year!

We sold our Sharks season tickets the other night and are getting ourselves a plasma tv for the kitchen/dining room and some nice comfy chairs for by the fireplace. We were VERY sad to sell the tickets.... Go SHARKS GO!!!!

Guess who woke up with her two front teeth today!!!!

So Josh and Mike had a fantastic time at the Metallica concerts. They went to both the Thursday and Friday shows. For the Friday show Mike won a meet and greet with the band and was able to get some autographs and some pictures with them - so cool!! Josh was able to get onto the floor for the Friday show as well and he caught a signed guitar pick by Kirk, which was pretty great. Mike also got a poster signed for him by all 4 members, so we are getting it framed for his office.

On Saturday we had the Enmax family Christmas party. Madelyn got to get her picture with Santa, which was pretty cute. Although, I think she was a little freaked out!

Josh is in Denver right now for the rest of the week. Although we knew this would be part of the sacrifice if we moved here and completely expected more work and such, it is still hard having him gone so often. Well at least I have Madelyn to keep me company - and busy!! My auntie Sheri is coming tomorrow to see the new house, so that will be nice. Tonight Madelyn and I went to the video store and got ourselves some girly movies. She is in bed now and I am going to turn on the fireplace, pop some popcorn and watch a movie while I finish my Christmas cards... and I think i may just have a nice hot bath before bed.... oh the life of a single gal... hehehe. gotta make the most of it!

I had one hell of a morning today. Josh left for the airport around 9 am and on the way he blew a tire and was stranded on the Deerfoot. So I had to bundle up the little one, drive on the icy roads (and we all know how much i just LOVE the deerfoot) and take Josh to the airport. Then I had to arrange for a tow truck to get the car and take it to a shop to have the tire changed. The hard part was that Josh wasn't going to be able to get the car until Friday and no one had space to store it! AND they wanted me to meet them at the car, but i refused, explaining to them that I had a small baby and that I would NOT be putting her in harms way again to go and wait on the deerfoot while cars go rushing by. are you kidding me?! so in the end i had them tow the car to the house and josh can deal with it when he gets home. the funny part of the story is that I had actually just gotten myself AMA a few days ago! I have never had it before and didn't even know if I needed it, but it has paid off already, so that was nice at least.

This weekend is the adult Enmax Christmas party and Tom Cochrane is performing. It should be a lot of fun and I am really looking forward to it. Stan and Linda are coming to stay with us and watch the little one. Friday night we are going to get our tree and decorate it and on Sunday, Lake Chaparral (where we live) is having a Christmas thing for the kids with hayrides and stuff. should be a blast!

Getting there.....

So I would say we are about 3/4 done with the move. We have unpacked pretty much everything except for the boxes of our clothes and now we mainly just have to put pictures up and do some organzing and such. So far we are really happy with the house.

Our friend Mike is here visiting from Edmonton right now. Josh and Mike went to the Metallica concert last night AND tonight. Mike won a meet and greet with Metallica - the lucky shit!!

Tomorrow is the Enmax family Christmas party and we are taking Maddy to get her picture taken with Santa for the first time! Then we are going to go get a tree and finish decorating the house for Christmas.

The dining room. We are going to get a big comfy chair or loveseat to go by the fireplace

I already love to have the fireplace on well I am doing my chores at night!

The kitchen. Madelyn loves to look out the big windows when she eats. We also made her a little play area so she has somewhere to be while we are cooking supper.

Gale family, notice the Tom painting was pretty much made for this spot!

The bonus room. We have completely childproofed it - notice the lovely white corners on the new coffee table. Can you guess where Bailey's most favoritest spot is???

We had to get a special order baby gate because the landing was so large!!

I love the master bathroom and have taken many a glorious bath already!!

Josh's office

The garage is completely loaded with papers and boxes... the bad news is that we are pretty sure the power cord for our computer is somewhere in that pile!!
